Customers & VARs at APPX Conference were EX-ZOO-BERANT!

When the APPX community gets together, there’s always plenty of information to be shared and fun to be had. That was certainly true at APPX EX-ZOO-BERATION 2006, the conference held last month in Jacksonville. Informative sessions, ample time for networking, a beautiful location, and a fantastic evening at the Jacksonville Zoo combined to make the event memorable for all who attended.

Among the highlights was our first “APPX Show & Tell,” which gave customers and resellers a chance to demonstrate some of the cool things they’ve done with APPX.

APPX 4.3 and Sarbanes-Oxley Legislation

The Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 has redefined the way that corporate America conducts business.  Publicly traded companies are scrambling to adapt their internal procedures and policies to comply with the requirements of this far-reaching legislation.  Its implications impact virtually every department of an organization from the executive offices to the mailroom.  Because businesses are so dependent on their information systems, this impact is hitting the IS department especially hard.

How will APPX 4.3 help our customers satisfy their data processing needs both today and into the future, whether those needs originate from Sarbanes-Oxley or from other external or internal forces?

APPX Tech Tip

As you migrate your users to the Appx Desktop Client, you will find that one advantage you gain is the ability to run APPX with a larger display area to take advantage of larger screens.  We have found that using a display with 28 columns and 110 rows creates a nice screen size for 17” monitors running at a resolution of 1024x768.  The screen is clear and readable and fits nicely in the display area of the monitor, plus it adds a good bit of extra room for your design needs.

So, how do you change the client’s default size?  What other considerations need to be taken into account, and how can you avoid pitfalls, problems, confusion, and complaints?

Maintenance Options - What's What?

APPX Software offers four levels of annual support for customers. Depending on the specific needs of your business, there is sure to be one that is a proper fit.

Bronze-level support provides basic software update coverage, meaning that you are entitled to all new versions, releases, and patches that are published during the effective maintenance period.

The silver, gold, and platinum levels add direct technical support from APPX Software, access to the APPX Support mailing list, discounts on training, consulting, and conferences, and more. As of 2006, the technical support has been extended to include coverage of APPX-authored applications.
