LinuxWorld San Francisco 2002
Featuring the recent release of APPX 4.1.a and the brand new APPX Financials, APPX Software joined over 130 other exhibitors at LinuxWorld Conference & Expo in San Francisco, August 12-15, 2002.
APPX was named a finalist in the Open Source Product Excellence Awards in two categories: Best Developer Tools for APPX 4.1.a, and Best Productivity Application for the APPX Financials. Although we didn't win the trophy in either category, the publicity we received for the nomination, and the "Finalist" signs at our booth, helped draw attention and visitors.
Pete Brower and Al Kalter represented APPX at LinuxWorld, and enjoyed the opportunity to introduce APPX to many potential new customers and resellers, as well as greeting some of our existing APPX clientele. By early in the second day of the Expo, Pete and Al had given out one thousand of the highly-treasured APPX document stands, exhausting the supply on hand. We tried to compensate over the final two days with a wide variety of chocolate, which was, of course, well received.
Many attendees asked to see demonstrations of APPX as a development environment, while others were interested in the financial applications. The reactions showed clearly that APPX is well ahead of the field in the Linux community, and made our participation at LinuxWorld definitely worthwhile.
LinuxWorld Conference & Expo is the premier event exclusively focused on Linux and Open Source solutions. This was the third consecutive LinuxWorld that APPX has participated in. In August 2001, APPX was a partner exhibitor with Red Hat, Inc., working in that company's booth at an APPX "pod". In New York this past January, APPX exhibited independently, and we handed out almost 1000 free copies of APPX for Linux.
APPX Software continues to offer our special Linux Promotion - a full-featured, permanent, single-user APPX for Linux license, absolutely free, to encourage people to discover our products and expand our penetration and visibility in the Linux marketplace. To date, over a thousand individuals from more than 80 countries have taken advantage of this promotion and obtained free licenses.
